Additional info for foreign readers
The station of Taggia-Arma, near San Remo, was closed in September 2001, when the new double-track railway replaced the original one. The new station of Taggia is located about 1.8 km from seaside (while the old one that you see in these photos is 2-minute walk from the beach).
As a conseguence, now tourists have to take a bus and reach the new station (or walk for half an hour with their luggages).
In such a condition it is obvious that private car usage increases and increases. The old station area is perfect for a large parking very close to the seaside. Is this the Public Administration goal?

The new railway also caused the stations of Ospedaletti, San Lorenzo and Santo Stefano to be closed and not replaced by a new one. The station of San Remo was replaced by a new one built in a tunnel, 0.4 km far-away from the entrance (one has to walk 0.4 km from station building to reach the tracks!).
This follows the closure of the stations of Noli and Varigotti, in 1977, when another new double-track line was opened.
All these towns, and above all Ospedaletti and Noli, are celebrated holiday places, that now can be reached only by bus.
